What Rifles can I use?

The rifles used in LSR competition can be either bolt-action, semi-auto, single-shot, straight-pull, pump-action, or air rifles. In this article, we will discuss the types of rifles that can be used for LSR target shooting.

Semi-Automatic Rifles

1. Semi-automatic rifles are the most common type of rifle used in LSR competition.. They allow for fast repeat shots and quick target acquisition, making them a favorite among competitors who value speed and accuracy. 

Bolt-Action Rifles

2. Bolt-action rifles are  also popular among LSR shooters. . They are known for their accuracy, reliability, and ease of use. Bolt-action rifles have a simple design, making them easy to maintain and repair. They also have a smooth action, which helps reduce shooter fatigue during long competitions.

Air Rifles

3. Air rifles are another popular option for LSR target shooting. They are ideal for indoor ranges due to their low recoil and noise level. Air rifles can be powered by compressed air or gas, and can be either PCP (pre-charged pneumatic) or spring-operated.  The can also be obtained with out the requirement to have a FAC and have lower running costs.

Lever Actions

4. Lever-action rifles are also used in LSR competition. They have a fast action and allow for quick follow-up shots, making them ideal for competition. They are also very accurate and reliable, making them a favorite among serious competitors.

Martini Actions

5. Martini actions are single-shot rifles that feature a falling block design, which allows for quick and easy reloading. They are known for their exceptional accuracy and smooth trigger pull.

Straight-Pull Rifles

6. Straight-pull rifles are bolt-action rifles that feature a bolt that is operated by pulling it straight back and then pushing it forward again to chamber a new round. These rifles are known for their fast cycling time and easy handling.

Pump-Action Rifles

7. Pump-action rifles are firearms that require the shooter to manually pump a slide to eject spent casings and chamber a new round. These rifles are known for their reliability and quick cycling time.

LSR target shooting requires a highly accurate and reliable rifle chambered in small caliber .22 Long Rifle or .177  or .22 cal for air rifles.  Bolt-action, semi-automatic, single-shot, straight-pull, and pump-action rifles can be used in LSR competition, including air rifles, lever actions, Martini actions, straight-pull, and pump-action rifles. The type of rifle you choose for LSR target shooting will depend on your personal preferences, shooting style, and budget.
